Listening to "ALL ABOUT YOU" and having fun by myself praising my God, jukno me~ ;)
i find myself to be a retreat junky at times because i really do cherish and savor those moments where such variety of believers from ethnic diversity to spiritual walks of life.... are gathered to worship a God bigger than ourselves~YEAYUH!
and also the fact that im away from all the distractions back at home..na mean?
DISCIPLESHIP '09....
what can i say?
short & sweet?........ humble & honoring?....... straightforward & informative?........secretive yet revealing?......i kno!
David Crowder sums it up nicely,
a place where our depravity met his divinity.....yea...
something i've come to realize I need to do more of this upcoming year.... to just say "YES LORD!" and really discipline myself to the discipline of discipleship...yakno? ;)
i really recommend this book for those of you guys having a hard time disciplining yourselves in areas such as:
BIBLE INTAKE
PRAYER
WORSHIP
EVANGELISM
SERVING
STEWARDSHIP
FASTING
SILENCE & SOLITUDE
JOURNALING
LEARNING
PERSEVERANCE IN THE DISCIPLINES
in chp. order...
life-changing book really.... something applicable till we die!..only 10 bux, indeed a good investment.
with the year winding down, this retreat helped me put things into perspective for the year coming up... and i realize i'm not the only one. =)
i still need to devote one of my "devotions" to reflection upon 2008, it really sorta kinda didn't hit me yet.... that's why i can't wait for New Year's service with my beloved D.E.M.... i shall keep my 1 or 2 readers posted, just let me know you care enough to stay tuned...it is nonetheless, an encouragement ;)
i've been really focused on reaching different people for Christ this year such that of friends and strangers....whereas my family is a 24/7 mission field.......
Pastor Stephen and i along with Esther, went into the NYC subways this afternoon and spread the true joy and cheer of Christmas, preaching the gospel of Christ demonstrated in Romans 5:8...... just letting the people know that there is hope and someone bigger than ourselves ya kno?
"many of them may not hear this lost msg ever again"
this hope that the children of God have is not to be our best kept secret... or a faith of personal fulfillment...... that's called being selfish really.....
but a love that compels to put our own lives at risk and join in the sufferings of Christ...
"Dear friends,
do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murder or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name."
-Peter
(1 Peter 4:12-16)
p.s. "for this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; brotherly kindess; and to brotherly kindness, love." (2 Peter 1:5-7)
worship...
prayer...

The race is hard. The road is dangerous. The casualties are high. Yet, we still run. Why? Why in the world do we still run?
Everything screams, "give up!"
Then, there's that still small voice..."I will make you fishers of men."
Give all the glory to Him. God is good. Always a pleasure doing kingdom work with you, bro. 2009, let's GO!
